I have a globe blue spruce bush in front of my front windows. It is too tall and not very attractive. It has not been pruned. It is about 28 years old or slightly more. It is about 8 feet wide and about 6 feet high. The back near the house has been cut back and not regrowing well. This makes me think that pruning is not a good idea. Can it be pruned to be less high and more shapely? Thanks!

As you have discovered cutting one of these back beyond the layer that has needles on it is liable to result in a "dead zone", that does not sprout new foliage.
