    Hello agian,

I repotted a couple of gingkos when their leaves droped into larger pots. They did well in their first pots and grew. When I was repottining them, I noticed that below the soil line the bark was loose and puffy. Have I lost my gingkos to some type of insect or rot? I did move to Ohio from North Carolina last August so there was more rain so there has been more moisture on the trees.

    Thanks,

    Clark Huffman

Thank you for your question. However it is difficult to identify the bark problem without seeing it. Do your pots have sufficient drainage? Did you repot into a pot one size larger? If the new pot is larger than just one size this could cause a problem.

    Good luck.
