i obtained a sappling of a Incense Cedar, but the trunk had an L shape bend in it so i cut the top off and placed in a gel rooting pack. my question is can i cut the trunk at the base of the roots and possibly grow two trees? my intention is to grow these for bonsai.

Probably not get any growth from either half, the severed top not being likely to take root and the stump not coming back well, if at all. If severed top still fresh try searching internet* for rooting incense cedar from cuttings, if there is a method for getting good results generally known may have to follow it pretty closely to expect much likelihood of success. Many incense cedar offered are produced from seed, named cultivars may all be propagated by grafting - I don't know. Some may be done from cuttings.

*"calocedrus cutting propagation", "calocedrus cuttings", "calocedrus propagation" etc.
