Came across this bigleaf maple today, and the shape immediately reminded me of several Baobab trees I've seen photo of online. I don't recall seeing this big of a burl on a bigleaf maple this short before. Its not over 25 feet tall. And the burl is about 8 feet diameter, and probably 9 feet wide at its widest down at ground level. Northeast Portland area. Although this maple is very short, I have a feeling its probably fairly old.
