When I bought this house plant the tag said "giant baby's tears". I can find nothing on the internet or in books that backs that up. It loves heat through the roots and high (not intense) light. It's just coming back after I nearly killed it by following the baby's tears plant 'directions' of ever-moist soil, standing H20, etc. Thanks!
Looks more like the Pilea nummulariifolia (note spelling), which has the common name creeping Charlie. Small leaved varieties are sometimes called baby's tears (not to be confused with Soleirolia soleirolii. Does also kind of look like Plectranthus australis (Swedish ivy), but the leaves have a different texture.
Thanks Eric, Marn & Salt/Chris - I think you've hit the nail on the head. I have to laugh tho. After spending 2 years in Denver trying to rid my lawn of an invasive weed called "Creeping Charlie", I now have one potted and loved in my house. Who knows if it's the same. Sidenote - Marn...are you a Marnie / Marnee / Marni / Marney? I'm the last listed. Don't run into many. Thanks again.
lol.. Blue actually it is Marion ... i just shortened it for the net ... :) I do beleive the creeping charlie that is the weed in the lawns is a lil different from the houseplant .. you will get better hits if you google sweedish ivy then creeping charlie .. alot of people just call them by both names.. I just noticed you are in Bend .. i lived in Redmond for 4 yrs before moveing up to Union.. Marn
