Hi everyone, This si my first posting here. I just purchased 3 Mandevillas from home depot (generally don't like their plants but I can't help but look at their bargains shelf whenever I am in there) and I got them to discount the Mandevillas to $4.50 each. There's no flowers on them and i will give them a good treatment before bringing them onto my patio. Any advise out there for getting these to flower?
They need consistent warmth for awhile before they will even think about blooming. I put mine in an area that gets a little nightime heat radiating back up, but it seems to still pout all summer; and then late in the year, with only a month or two left in our short season, it decides to wake up and grows fast and blooms nicely. They need the standard watering & fertilizing of course, but very sparingly until you get the growth to match. Generally look for an extended period of warm nights above 50 (min) before it can get into a blooming phase.
