In June of this year I had my small Victoria garden professionally redone & I need some guidance in caring for some new additions, including Gaura linheimeri. Should they be cut back in the fall or do I wait for die back? Are there any tricks to caring for them?

We have this in a sunny spot near the entrance to our driveway. It does wonderfully well in our Fraser Valley garden with a bucket of compost put on it every couple of years. One of our neighbours who is very, very neat, dislikes it & tries to get us to cut it back - doesn't work. It reaches about 3 foot high & sprawls around with a long blooming period for its prolific, pale pink flowers. It is a bee-and-bug-magnet & we finally cut most of it back last week (beginning of Oct). If you wait for it to die, it just turns into a soggy mess.

    Love this plant.
