If anyone would like some Garry Oak acorns (Quercus garryana) which are already showing a little root growth, please let me know. Free for the cost of postage - usually around $15. We've got another bumper crop this year.
Hi @LPN - Did you have a huge number of acorns the year before last too? Do you think it has anything to do with heat/water stress? It was interesting this year that there were far fewer jumping gall wasps which may explain why such a large percentage of the acorns are germinating so quickly. Some of our trees dropped their leaves weeks ago while others, growing in better conditions, still have lots. I wonder what the experts would say.
We've only lived here for 2 & a half years so I don't have much to go on. There has been a consistent amount of acorns during this time each autumn. It doesn't appear that Garry Oaks here have especially stressful growing conditions.
