Hi all fellow District 69ers, Islanders, British Columbians, Canadians, absentee Canadians, Foreigners, Neighbours, Friends, and new Friends. I am trying to establish a locally based gardening Thread where neighbours(virtually and hopefully literally) in this community of ours, can exchange ideas and form a healthy repor! Current and past locals please contribute! Let's help each other live good lives and enjoy our planet:)

sounds like a grand idea. I'm a neophyte gardener and would love to have some local 'flavour'. A suggestion though for the 'non virtual world', would be to join the local horticultural society. I'm sure Qualicum would have great one. There are so many beautiful gardens there (and you will really meet your neighbours too)!

    Hi Paula,
Thanks for the response and I agree I should join a horticultural group in my 'real life', just wish I had the time. I am hopeful that this winter I will. My work is tourist dependant and this is our busy time when we make the funds to sustain us through the leaner months, when I do get the extra time is during our winter. The previous winter kinda scared me and also killed a few prized specimens. Anyone from our area or living in other areas even, that has the time to be a proper moderator is more than welcome to take the reins. I was inspired by the time and effort that the people living on our little Island put into their yards and plants. I think that we deserve a showcase of their accomplishments, and a local knowledge base from which they can draw information, trade plants, seeds, ornaments etc. Hey, and their is nothing better than knowing your neighbours.
