Hi,I would like to request help in aquiring 2-3 dozen garden snails for my young grandaughter who is crazy over them,I would glady pay $20.00 plus postage to Manitoba, anyone interested please PM me or email me at sherryz@mts.net,Thanks Brian
Not a good idea to transport them anything other than very locally! Importing them from other areas may even be illegal.
Relic, snails are real pests in the garden. As Michael F indicated, if they aren't already native to your area, it would not be a good idea to import them.
No listed invasive snails in Manitoba (or, at least not on the web site yet) But, this is an example of what a non-native snail can be a part of: Invasive Snails Take a Toll on Native Ducks via NPR
Perhaps your granddaughter would enjoy snails of an aquatic fish-tank variety. Such an arrangement would keep them from infesting your garden, and they would be easily viewable at any time. Also, your g-d could learn about ecosystems, gastropod habits and care, and all that sorta thing. Why not take her for a visit to your local pet shop? You could set up a small tank for the snails---maybe with some fish or frogs or PLANTS, eh?
