    Nigella ... perhaps Nigella sativa?

    Thanks, Daniel.

    It appears that it's a type of common Asian herb. I found the plant as it was going to seed at Glendale Gardens, in Saanich.

    Methinks we will keep this annual as a regular in our garden.
