Shot at McLennan Park in Richmond this morning.
The flowers are borne on a vine supported by a metal trellis.
Thought this is some sort of clematis ?

Couldn't get close enough to smell !
It is deep within flower bed and can't be assessed
without trampling through all the other bedding plants.

At UBCBC, there is a pink one that's Clematis montana var. rubens. And also a cultivar of that called 'Pink Perfection'.

It’s interesting to read the write-up on Clearview website about “rubens”
    1. Apparently some breeders have poor versions of it
    2. Cold tolerance

You searched for Montana - Clearview Horticultural Products

I am one who is very energized to buy plants based on the nice name & photo on label! (Candy store method) — so I had not really read the details previously

Tetraploid as a noun is a new word for me and maybe @Margot (plant word collectors)

I have never really thought about some Montana having bronze-ish leaves ... sounds nice

And a “short” Montana? No way :) but Clearview says that FREDA is not as keen on rambling and scrambling up tall trees (which I like) (Max 12-15 feet)

I have a couple of young Montana but I can’t find my labels at this time - I wonder what I bought a couple of yr ago.
