I purchased this plant at a retail store and there was no identifying tag with it. The leaves are covered with white fuzz, similar to an African Violet. I first thought it was a Staghorn Fern but the leaves look different than the pictures I've seen of Staghorns. It doesn't like extreme heat and seems to prefer indirect lighting. Anyone have any ideas?

It's a young staghorn fern (Platycerium sp.), so your ID was correct! :)

Thanks for your reply! It seems perfectly happy in the potting soil I purchased it in. Should I try to mount it to a piece of wood right away or just leave it where it is?

It looks like the variety "netherlands compacta" The fronds don't get as big and lobed.

It can be mounted. or hung in a wire basket that's lined, or molded to the basket shape with moist Sphagnum moss at least 3" thick, then filled with orchid bark chips as the main medium. Bright indirect light indoors, or hung in a tree all summer. Water well when dry.

Do I need to replant it into the wire basket now or leave it in the pot until it's larger?

You can re-plant it anytime you like, best in the spring/summer months. When you do, use a basket that's a little larger then the plastic pot it's in, going larger later on as it grows and needs the room.
I'll take mine over the kitchen sink and wet it all down thoroughly with the kitchen sprayer (not so hard a spray the bark chips go flying) then hanging it back up after all the water has drained.
