I was given this as a gift. I was told it's part of the orchid family.
It grows fuzzy 1 stalk with 2 - 3 leaves at the top.
The stalk gets hard and loses its fuzz.
Then another stalk pops up next to it and the first one dies.
This happens several times, then one come up and flowers with little redish flowers.
I would love to know what it is and if I'm taking care of it correctly. I've had it for many years. It doesn't seem to like direct sun.

Orchids look nothing like this - it's something more on the order of Sinningia leucotricha.
