Fuzzy fruit tree

I would appreciate any help in identifying this fruit. It was photographed in early July near Beirut, Lebanon. Thanks.

 

That looks like a quince (Cydonia oblonga). If you can remember seeing it in flower, the blooms should have looked like this http://www.botanicalstockphotos.com/photo-cydonia-oblonga-12072.htm .

 

Thank you so much. I was in Lebanon on a trip and was not there to see it flower.

Definitely the Cydonia, a plant I have seen multiple times - and am growing myself.
