How bad is this? Should I prune this branch? The tree is only 3 year old graft. Thanks in advance.

I took this maple to a nursery and they think it is winter damage.

Pat, I had a hard time making out anything definitive from the picture.

    Hi,

I received two maples from a reknown maple nursery in France. At first, i thought it was just winter damage, but they leafed out, and gradually, the grey disoloration spread, and finally all that was above died.

I'd cut the sick branch if I were you, apply copper sulphur (Bordeaux mix) on the wound, and put some wound sealant.
