Question on what type of fungus, and black powder like material I have on a magnolia tree? I am not sure what type magnolia we have ? We are in zone 5. Located in semi shade, with good drainage. This fungus ( soft spongy green leafy ) growth is throughout sections of various branches. This tree is 25 years old, 18 Ft. tall and 18 Ft. in Diameter. I have treated for aphids over the past year with good results. I noticed the green spongy growth at the time I saw the aphids along with a white looking scale. The white scale and aphids are gone since the treatment for aphits. I would be glade to provide any further information to help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
