I have a spider plant i started right after my 12 yr old was born it has always been beautiful & healthy. Just noticed it has yellow & white stuff growing in the soil the yellow stuff almost resembles very slinder mushrooms, also there are tiny shiny black bugs allover the soil! what can I do? I wanna save my plant!!!

Gack! Get the plant into a NEW pot and NEW clean soil ASAP!
Is this infestation confined to the soil, or are there unwanted freeloaders on the plant as well?
Give us a photo if you can.

    Welcome to the Forum!

Info on how to post photos on sidebar to right (under 'Forums Help', see 'Attaching Images'). Get some knowledgeable person to help you---I get ahold of my daughter, who can do it in about 30 seconds. I think that even phone photos can be attached! Modern technology is amazing.

Well, spider plants are pretty tough, and you say that the bad stuff is only in the soil...so I'm thinking that if you get the plant into completely clean surroundings it will likely be OK. When you repot give it a good look, undersides of leaves, roots, etc. to be sure nothing is lurking.
