    Hello all!

I'm in the Niagara Region of Ontario. I have a tree in my backyard (have only lived at the location for 1 year) that is growing some sort of fungus or something on some branches. These branches continue to bud and bloom. I'm not even sure of the type of tree, truthfully.

I've attached a photo of the growth - does anyone have any idea of what this is, and how to combat it? So far I have managed to cut off most of it, but some does remain.

    Thanks very much.

Google Black Knot, which is a common fungal disease of plums. It should be pruned out as soon as you notice the swellings, which should be burned or disposed of far away.
