    Hi forum folks,

I found this fungus near my pond under the shade of a hazelnut this morning. We are located in the Austrian Alps. Seems to have appeared overnight. Large (about 10+ inches long) and resembles a white cloud of whipped cream. Any ideas what it is? Couldn't find anything on the net!

    Thanks!

Re: fungus ID - additional info

Thanks for your help to id it. Re: more info regarding characteristics, I have no idea what would help. Here are two new photos from today - the first one I posted here has grown to about 14 inches long and about 5 inches high. It is firm to the touch, the surface feels like suede, and it sounds hollow when I tap on it. Slugs and ants are apparently feeding on it.

We also disovered another old one about 3 feet away (second photo), which seems to be decaying. A "fresh" one is growing in the woods about 6 feet from the one within our property line.
