I found this pore layer of fungus on a loose piece of conifer wood. It sports a rudimentary "cap" on top, but it's barely there: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/stormbythesea/Fungi/Unknown3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/stormbythesea/Fungi/Unknown31.jpg Is this a species of Poria? I have no other diagnostic characteristics, and have not noticed any local species of Fomitopsis, Ganoderma, or Phellinus that doesn't form an obvious cap. Thank you!
