I've been taking photos of the fungi I encounter in the temperate rainforests here outside Port Angeles, WA. I've tallied 109 species in the past ten days--I can't think of anything I enjoy more than mushroom-hunting! I wanted to share the beauty of the local mushrooms here. PLEASE let me know if you disagree with any identifications--I'm always looking for feedback. Gyromitra infula (Hooded False Morel): Boletus mirabilis (Admirable Bolete): Cordyceps ophioglossoides (Truffle Eater). This parasitizes the Common Deer Truffle: An older photo of Elaphomyces granulatus (Common Deer Truffle). This is the host of the previous fungus: Lycoperdon perlatum (Gemmed Puffball): Pseudohydnum gelatinosum (Toothed Jelly): Amanita muscaria (Fly Araric): Armillaria mellea (Honey Mushroom): Gomphus clavatus (Gray Pigs Ears): Helvella crispa (Fluted White Elfin Saddle): Hericium abietis (Conifer Coral Mushroom): Hypomyces lactifluorum (Lobster Mushroom): Lyophyllum decastes (Fried Chicken Mushroom): Nidula candida (Birds Nest Fungus): Mycena haematopus (Blood Mycena): Otidea alutacea group (Brown Clustered Ear Cup): Omphalina luteicolor (Orange Conifer Lichen Agaric): Sparassis crispa (Cauliflower Mushroom): Trichaptum abietinum (Violet-pored Bracket Fungi): Stropharia ambigua (Questionable Stropharia)--beautiful cottony veil that protects the gills: Strobilurus trullisatus (Cone Lover): Agaricus augustus (The Prince):

I am very glad to post fungi photos here! I hope people will correct me if I mis-identify any of them. I absolutely realize that one should include as much diagnostic characteristics as possible, but I just want to see if anyone can easily see how wrong I might be, especially to genus. And one can't go too wrong when sharing the beauty of fungi...
