Friend or Foe?

    Inherited a New England garden full of these, some organized and a lot that seems to have taken over. In comparing to our garden center's plants it looked like mint but ours has no smell. Could it be Purple Loosestrife? Of course it'd be easier to identify if it was blooming... trying to figure out whether to yank it all up or what to do with it.

    Take a look at the link provided by saltcedar - that species appears to have a squarish stem. Maybe there is variability within a species, but typically a distinct stem might be a distinction between species. Not sure we have the right species for you yet.
