There's a tree (or maybe a large bush) on our regular walking route that my wife loves -- it smells great all summer long (and even now, in early October). I like the idea of buying one for our own yard, but have no idea what it is. Location is in Edmonds, Washington, maybe 5 meters high, not sure if it is deciduous or not -- seems like it has leaves year-round but I'm not sure. Photos are attached. Can you offer any suggestions as to what it might be?

    Thanks for your help/advice.

Clerodendrum trichotomum. Wait till you see the fruits! Actually, I'm surprised I'm not seeing them in your photo, unless it was taken a while ago. Ours up here in Vancouver are covered now in pearly-blue fruits with thick red sepals.

Fantastic! Thanks for your prompt and accurate reply. A quick web search for clerodendrum trichotomum turns up a bunch of hits (here, here, here, and (link removed), most of which look just like the plant in question. It looks like you nailed it!

    Thanks again
