Is there any way to keep fountain grass from growing so large? I cut them back to about one foot from ground in March (after frost). This was exhausting, as I not only cut them down, but took out the individual dry grasses throughout the plant. They are now huge again (both in width and height). I am thinking ahead to next Spring! Appreciate any tips.
If you want to keep them tidy you will not be able to avoid the annual job, only make it easier. Try using a hand scythe next year.
