Hi, Can anyone identify this plant for me? It was about to be bulldozed on a vacant lot. I loved it so I saved it. :) Thanks
Hi. This site talks about phlox growing in NH. There are many varieties hence the question about their height. I garden in a sw BC where we have been suffering badly from drought conditions with the attendant water restrictions so most of my perennials have died back. Normally my phlox would still be flowering. Here they can be quite invasive so I am sure that some will survive. Humming birds and butterflies love them. http://www.newhampshirewildflowers.com/phlox-garden.php Margaret
Many more new varieties coming soon as well. Dr. Peter Zale is a plant breeder at Longwood Gardens (he visited UBCBG last week). One of the genera he is working on is Phlox, which you can read about below (links also include some images of the diversity of phlox): Interview with Dr. Peter Zale Opportunities for Novelties in the Genus Phlox
Thank you both for all the info. I have transplanted the phlox to a sunny spot with soil that drains well. I hope it survives. I rescue dogs & cats, now plants :)
