Fort St. John's unexpected guest - but what is it?

    Hey folks, hope you can help us out. This beauty appeared unexpectedly in the garden - no idea what it is, and the staff at the local garden centre also don't know. Neighbours haven't a clue. Tried a couple of internet plant ID trees, but wasn't able to narrow it down respectably (still had multiple family possibilities).

    Numerous leaflets on basal leaves suggests G. macrophyllum.

    Somehow one wishes it had been a Hypericum, but it isn't!
