For anyone in Europe, who like @AlainK swear they won't buy any more, I think you're in trouble. ;) This isn't really a publicity per se, but I want you all to know that friend and Maple Society member Kurt V. has finally got enough stock to open his nursery, in Belgium, for sales. It's a pretty sexy looking list! I haven't seen the plants, but having talked to Kurt, and knowing his passion, I think we're going to be in for a treat. Check it out: https://themaplenursery.com/ Stock list looks promising for the spring and future, too! Best, -E
@emery, you or he can send me a short blurb for the Maples: Nurseries Specializing in Maples Outside of North America | UBC Botanical Garden Forums page. It should note that he's a Maple Society member, and is he a forums member? He would be allowed to have a link to his webpage in his forum signature.
Here I am, back after a long period of not logging on. Life has been so busy. Emery, thank you so much for your kind words!
For the page you mentioned in your post, wcutler: The Maple Nursery Belgian nursery specialised in Japanse maples, also a little bit of hamamelis and cercis. "Kurt & Philippe have been friends since they were 14 years old, and over the past 25 years have done many crazy things together, but starting a nursery from scratch in 2023 is probably the craziest according to some people. To us however, it just feels natural, the right thing to do. We love beautiful trees, so we love maples. We want to spread the love by focusing on rare varieties and obviously are just starting out. Hopefully over time, we can grow our nursery into a respected name in the industry." Link location: www.themaplenursery.com
@Riverdale27, thank you for the blurb. You realize I have listed this under T? Please check the entry and let me know if you want anything changed. @emery, what has been listed as Benoit Choteau nursery Belgian Maple nursery is now listed with a secure URL at Pépinières Choteau – Erables / Aménagement de jardins / Bonsaïs. So I am moving that entry down to P. It is also in Belgium. Kurt, is Belgium so small that the city does not need to be given? For that matter, I can't tell from your page whether your nursery is online only, or is it open to visitors. If it's open to the public, I should say where it is (and so should the website on more than just the contact page). So I was going to add the city to the posting, unless the nursery is not open to the public. There are no visiting hours given, so maybe it's just for internet orders?
I must plan a trip to Belgium one day. Apart from the tree nurseries, I met very nice people from Belgium at our Autumn meeting. On Kurt & Philippe website, they mention their address : The Maple Nursery Heerstraat 177 3511 Kuringen BE.1002.415.420 info@themaplenursery.com
