    Hi Folks

I am looking at getting a couple of small foliage plants to put onto my East facing windowsill in my flat.

I have a Dracaena Marginata on the right side of the room and what I think may be a Dracaena Draco on the left so I am looking for something that will look nice with these 2 plants.

I am in the UK and the window gets full sun on it in the mornings and then is bright but sunless for the rest of the day. Any suggestions on a couple of suitable plants for those conditions would be brilliant.

I have added a photo of the window with the 2 plants I already have

    Cheers, Jakk

    Hi Folks

Thanks for all the suggestions, plenty for me to research with that little lot. I think I am deffinatly going to be getting a ZZ Plant for that windowsill, I had a look on the net last night and really like the look of those. I now just need to find something else to go with it, I am sure I can find something from you guys suggestions

I am going to be getting a spider plant too but that is going to be living on my bathroom windowsill which is East facing too.

I am really getting into this houseplant hobby now, I brought myself a few cacti a while back just to brighten the place up a bit but after buying a houseplant book and searching the web I seem to building up a nice little collection now.

Here are some photos of my collection so far

This is my Draceana Marginata, this is my favourite plant I have at the moment, I potted it up when I brought it and its gotten quite a bit bigger since then.

I think this is a Draceana Draco, it wasn't labeled when I brought it, I have a book and done some research on the net and the closest I can find is the Drac Draco

I brought this lovely little plant at the weekend and it is a Calathea, on doing some research I have discovered this can be quite a challenge to keep indoors, I have been misting it loads and I have it away from the window. I love the way its leaves all point upwards at night.

This one is a Cordyline, someone in the plant id section on here said it was a Cordyline Pink Fasctinations, this is the only plant I am having problems with, as you can see the leaf tips are going brown, I have upped the misting and moved it close to my south facing window.

Finally here the cacti that I brought which got me started on keeping house plants, they have all recently been potted up as they were all pot bound and in rubbish soil, they all live on my south facing windowsill.

I hope you all enjoyed looking at my collection, it looks like I have found myself a great new hobby, I love having plants around the place and I am enjoying learning how to care for each different species.

I also love this website too, its full of great info and advise so thanks to those who run it and also contribiute to it, keep up the good work folks

    Thanks

    Jakk

    Hello and welcome!

You may have already read this in a different thread so forgive me if you already know, Cordy's (and in fact Drac's too) don't like chlorine in their water, which can cause brown tips (as well as low humidity) so if you're not standing your water overnight this could be your problem!

You have some lovely plants.....makes me want to get more too!
