The photo was taken along the Arbutus Greenway near Fir St. in Vancouver. The area where the flowers are was plain dirt earlier this year. As you can see it is now completely filled with colorful flowers. Many people stopped to admire the view and to take photos.
What I feared may happen has happened after the removal of the fencing that protected the area after seeding. Some people apparently couldn't resist the urge to have themselves pictured against this beautiful backdrop and as a consequence ended up trampling the very thing that they admire. It's a shame. The boulders provide places where people can sit and have their photo taken; perhaps the City should move them closer to the pathway or remove them altogether.
