Need identification and instructions on how to prune. I have a small tree/shrub currently in bloom (June 7, 2010) - white fragrant flowers in chain-like garland. fragrance reminds me of a water lily or mayflower. attached two pictures. I'm in Massachusetts, Zone 6.
Philadelphus, at a guess. Remove flowered branches down to a new shoot after flowering, if you really need to keep it into a small area. Otherwise, let it rip, it's fabulous.
Agree with nic. It is a double flowering form of Philadelphus. Common name mock orange. http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=ph...sc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
