Can anyone please help me identify this flowering plant.

The plant grows new from the ground every spring to a dense bush of multible stalks. This particular one was already established when my parents bought the house 45 years ago. It is in a full sun location, is non-invasive, and grows five or six feet.

We had thought it might be a type of hollyhock but have never been able to confirm this.

    Thanks

This is certainly a plant from the mallow family, possibly a species from the genus Lavatera.

Thanks for the info. It does indeed look to be a mallow, and more specifically a type of musk mallow (Malva Moschata). In looking into it further seems there are a wide variety of colors, leaf shape, flowers and plant size.
