I live in the NE Missouri. I found a very tiny flower or weed today that I have never seen before. I only saw the one plant so far. Total plant was only 1 stalk between 2-3 inches tall. The leaves are about 1/4 inch big and I guess I would call them hairy or spiky, and the flower was about as large as a round quilting pin head, smaller than a pencil eraser in diameter. Something about the leaves almost made me think of a sedum as they seemed thickish and maybe fleshy. I used a 100mm macro lens and 3 extension tubes to get this image so it is quite magnified.

I have tried searching for Missouri wildflowers by color but have come up empty. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. I am so curious about it. Thank you!

Searching through veronicas after David's reply, I think it is Veronica persica.
