Flower, plant or weed?

    Hi, I found this flower/plant/weed growing behind my house--close to a wooded area. Any idea of what it is? I live in Northeastern Tennessee, about an hour northeast of Knoxville.

    Cardo is apparently Italian for thistle.

    Carduus 100%(Latin name) chamaecephalus?
