(The word IDENTIFIED in front of a numbered plant indicates it has been identified with relative certainty within this post) I'm getting to the end of my folder of unidentified plants :) ...all thanks to the great folks out here who are very generous with their knowledge! Thanks so far to Silver surfer, Lila Pereszke, Barbara Lloyd, Axel :) Here we go: 1- IDENTIFIED: Phacelia tanacetifolia (Lacy phacelia) came out of a multi mix seed pack 2- IDENTIFIED: Tanacetum parthenium (Feverfew) I had the id for this at one time- dang! EDIT: kind of floppy, dainty 3- IDENTIFIED: Liatris spicata (gay feather) Ironically I was given one of these a few years ago 4- IDENTIFIED: Gilia capitata (Globe Gilia) Someone suggested allium but I don't think so- think it came from seed 5- IDENTIFIED: Vaccaria hispanica (Cowcockle) campion type? 6- crab apple or haw is my guess- Willoughby (Langley) is full of mysterious fruit trees 7- IDENTIFIED: Nepeta subsessilis (Japanese Catmint) might be the same as no. 1...to far back to recall :( 8- Willoughby has lots of ornamental plum and cherry...can't tell which this might be 9- IDENTIFIED: Aconitum (Monkshood) money plant?? 10- IDENTIFIED: Anthurium (many common names) in a bouquet 11- IDENTIFIED: Pericallis × hybrida (Florist's Cineraria) Love this- no idea what it is- comes with different colours 12- IDENTIFIED: Phlox subulata (Ccreeping Phlox) Don't know if it's wild or store bought 13- IDENTIFIED: Geum urbanum (Wood avens) Definitely a wild flower (weed)
We all love to help. But this is a lot in one go. So much easier if you post a few at a time. http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=31873
Will make a start. 1. Phacelia tanacetifolia. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=p...a-0QXOw4HIAQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=967 2. 3. Liatris spicata. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=l...fU0QWSgIGQBQ&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=967 Sorry... no time to answer 13 in one hit!
11. Pericallis x hybrid. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=p...84CQCA&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=967 12. Phlox. Possibly Phlox subulata Kimono...or similar. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=P...2ShQfo24HwAw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=967 13. Looks like Geum urbanum. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=g...HxhQfP-4DYDA&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1536&bih=735
12-13 is about the max I care to post...but I don't expect any one or two people to do all the work. I put in time checking every person's suggestion and when the id looks right will edit the original post to reflect that. I'm very happy that people are interested enough to share their knowledge of plants- via common/latin names or links :) (I'm familiar with the link...it was written around the time I first posted on the site with a collection of 40-50 pictures- what a mess I made!)
There's nothing wrong with this amount of plants posted at once, in my opinion. Somewhat harder to keep track of which plants have been identified, but it's fine.
thank you! thank you for 4 and 5! 2 is definitely not feverfew which I grow here. 6...I might have to leave it at malus in general because it might be too difficult from just this picture to say for sure
It is feverfew, a double cultivar like this one: http://www.herbaleducation.net/herb-gallery/Tanacetum parthenium (Feverfew).php
Barb was suggesting a double form too and I hadn't thought of it because I planted feverfew here (single flower form) and it grew monstrously large and robust. Thank you both!
