The enclosed picture was taken at the Botanical garden in Kandy, Sri Lanka ( a wonderful place to visit). I was told it was a Flat vine, Liana Pus by our guide, but am not entirely convinced. Can anyone confirm this or suggest the proper name if this is wrong Many thanks Arthur
Hi Arthur, There are over 50 varieties of Liana, a tropical vine. http://rainforest.montclair.edu/pwebrf/rainforest/Plants/gal1.html http://www.accessexcellence.org/LC/TL/sly/sly_imgWin4.html http://www.junglephotos.com/plants/lianas/lianas.html There is one in Sri Lanka called Pus Wela. Scroll down about half way at this site and read the second paragraph under 'Sri Dalada Maligawa & Udawattakele'. http://www.fredskorpset.no/templates/FredskorpsDagbok____18416.aspx Newt
Any woody vine is a liana, it is a mode of growth rather than a kind of plant. There's alot more than 50 species of woody vines.
