Nice forum. I have been identifying plants, trees and wildflowers on some property I purchased in the Smokey Mountains of NC. I am down to one flower that I can't seem to locate in the NAS Field Guide. http://www.pirate1rbaker02.com/flora6.jpg

    Any help would be appreciated!

Your web page didn't come up in my browser, IE6. If you use the forum software you will insert the picture directly in this thread. Harry

I have no idea what this is either, but i do know that it grows in my garden too. I just keep pulling it out and it just keeps coming back. It is persistant. I'de like to know also.

Maybe a dogbane, Apocynum. Dogbanes have milky sap. Got milky sap?

[Added to post:] But on further study, maybe it isn't a dogbane. One book I have has a dogbane drawing that is a pretty good match for your photo, but I have to admit that the dogbane images on the web are not that close.

I just seached the dogbane photos on google and this is more of a weed type plant. I'm away from the property now and will not be back there till labor day. I will check for the milky sap. The blooms look like a hairy beardtongue but the flower according to the field guide is to small to be a beardtongue.

By George that is it. Thank you for that. The flower is listed in the NAS field guide but it has no picture. I googled the name and the pics I came across match very well.

    Thank you!
