My friend has some Fire And Ice Heliconia seeds and he is wondering: I'm just not sure if they need to be dried or not before shipping and planting. I could just pack them in bubble wrap and you could dry them. The seeds are starting to fall off the plants, The pictures of the blue seeds were taken this afternoon. Could you give instructions on how to plant them. And If he should dry them out before planting or plant them as they are. Ive heard that they are hard to grow from seed but were up for the challenge. ;) Thanks :) ps. sorry about the watermark, I couldn't get it off.
Hello Good luck with your fire and ice heliconia seeds, based on my experience remove the pulp around the seed. It is easier to remove pulp if seeds are placed in water. Once clean, dry and keep in a dark dry place or you can keep the seeds in water, important to frequently change water, when ready to mail place seeds in a small sealed plastic bag with a moist piece of paper towel. Once moist keep moist. Seeds will germinate as long as water is changed frequently to avoid having the seeds rot. Heliconia Enthusiast
