    Hi,
I have a neighbour who is moving....he has a large fig tree in his yard. He wants to give me a shoot, in hopes that I will be able to keep a "part" of his tree going; he is not sure the new owners will keep it or knock it down with the renovations planned. I would hope to grow it in a pot, to start.

As well, he is moving into an apartment and would love to be able to grow a piece of this tree he has nursed for over 20 years, in a container.

Is there anyway to graft a shoot and have it root and grow? Is there an ideal place to clip this off from (ie: just above a branch off etc..).

Let me know if this is possible....the tree is huge and thus, can't be dug up and moved.
    Help..

http://www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/fig.html You can take a cutting and root it. Figs root quite easily. There is also some good info on this site about figs. Check out the links page. Cheers
