Fig plant creation from Fig fruit

    What would be the step-by-step procedure for creating a Fig plant from a Fig fruit???

    It's difficult at best and you're much better off to try a cutting from an existing plant or else grow from bought seed rather than from fruit itself.

    I agree with Rima that it would be much easier to propagate from a cutting or buy a plant, that way you can choose the best plant for your area. If you are trying to grow from seed that you saved from a fruit that you liked, chances are it was grown in a much warmer location than Toronto and will not perform well for you. But if you want to try for the horticultural experience and fun of it, it can be done.
