I've had this Fiddleleaf Fig for about 2 months now. I planted it in a new pot with good potting soil. The leaves look really healthy, but the inside area of the leaf "junction" exhibits a black tip. Is this the new leaf growth area? Is it a too much water or not enough water issue?
I wish a specimen were nearby so I could check it. Since the leaves look so good, I think you're looking at some sort of sheath for buds. A photo on this webpage supports that idea. http://www.figweb.org/Ficus/Subgenus_Urostigma/Section_Galoglychia/Subsection_Cyathistipulae/Ficus_lyrata.htm.
That sounds plausible. There seems to be some new leaves emerging from that area on the lower section. Thank you.
