I just acquired a ficus benjamina from someone who was moving. The roots have grown through the drainage holes at the bottom of the plastic pot and have formed a "mat"under the pot. The plant looks healthy so I don't want to mess around with it too much, but it does look like it needs repotting at some point. Any suggestions?

I would repot it .. just go one size up on the pot .. just make sure you bang the pot to get all the dirt in the bottom and around the roots .. i would bang it as you go ..

    HI, Marne,
The roots are actually outside of the pot, forming like a saucer under the pot. I think I would have to actually cut away the pot from around the plant to try to get the roots out. I'm worried I might damage the roots too much, as these plants are notorious for not liking to be disturbed!
