Ficus Benjamin problem

    I have an 8 foot Ficus Benjamin that was given to me last year by a coworker. It was doing fine for the first few months then started emitting a stick sap-like substance on the leaves. Does anyone know what kind of bug I have and what I should by to kill the sickness? I have included pics. The 3rd pic is a closeup of the insect on a sheet of paper.

    Your plant has an infestation of scale. There's no shortage of information on controlling this pest in these forums.

    Thanks for the reply. I have been doing some reading on Scale and believe you were right on the money with your prognosis.
