In winter, many plants don't need as much water, light, or fertilizer. I never thought fertilizing in the winter isn't really beneficial since plants slow, or stop growing all together, though some folks will continue to feed their plants non-stop, year round.

Should ALL houseplants be fertilized in winter too?

Hardy outdoor plants are fertilized in fall and spring. House plants may not need it during winter either, under ordinary living room conditions these will tend to be less active in winter also.

I still wonder why there are those that feed their plants all winter, I wouldn't think the plant would use it.
