I live within a vine growing valley in the south of Spain where I keep my Spanish bred mare. A few weeks ago I was offered some vine leaves to feed to my horse and not having any knowledge of the effects it may have on her, I tried to find some information from the internet on the nutritional value. There were several forums but no definate answers.

The local Spaniard who offered the leaves to me told me that when his father kept donkeys and horses they always used to gather the leaves when they were totally dry and store them away for winter feed. With this information I have gathered a stock and am feeding it on a daily basis to my mare and a gelding at my yard. There is no daubt that they both enjoy the leaves and leave any stems that I have not disgarded.

does any one have any information on the nutritional value to horse?
