It is understood to have been transported nearly 4,000 miles from Bermuda to Germany before being shipped to the Port of Leith in 1810. What an undertaking that journey must have been! Even though this sacrifice seems a necessary one, sad news nonetheless---mitigated by the intended use of the palm's wood and the propagation of its seedlings.
