I can't seem to find any information about when tree leaves change colors. What trees are the first to change colors and which are the last?

It varies a lot from region to region, and with weather from year to year, so it isn't easy to predict.

In your region (Milwaukee?), you will have noticed that the oaks are generally the latest. After a couple of seasons of 'leaf watching' you'll have a good handle on the earliest and latest trees in your region. You'll also have a good idea on how habitat & resulting tree stress affect leaf fall (ie. why does Red maple 'A' in the swamp loose its leaves before Red maple 'B' in moist but well drained soil)
