I have just moved to Victoria from Ottawa and have been very impressed by the assortment of plants and flowers that seem to grow here year round. It is obvious that Ottawa planting techniques do not apply here, so I was wondering if you could provide me with some advice on what type of flowers I can plant that will do well in the fall/winter months in Victoria, as well as when I should plant spring bulbs.

Septober is the best time to plant all hardy plants here. Soils are still warm and precipitation is increasing. Nurseries have full lines of spring-flowering bulbs now, ready to be planted.
