Hi! I need help!!! I've determined that my pear tree has Fabraea Leaf Spot. Here is the website I made my diagnosis from : http://www.caf.wvu.edu/kearneysville/disease_descriptions/omfabrea.html. I do not have fruit yet, but my leaves look exactly like those in the picture. I have found a lot of literature on how to prevent this disease, but I have found nothing on how to treat it. Would I treat it in the same way that you would prevent it? With fungicides? All of the leaves on my tree have this spotting, but in addition, the ends of some of shoots have turned black, and appear to be dead. I've had the tree for about 3 years, and if I remember correctly it was about 3 years old when I purchased it. I don't remember what type of pear it is, but from the reading I gathered that this disease is most common with bosc pears, and it seems likely that I would have purchased a bosc pear. I also have another pear tree nearby, it is unaffected but it is also a different type of pear. Could this spread to the other tree? Should I trim off the dead shoots? I can't remove the leaves, as I said it is all leaves that are affected. But maybe in the fall I should remove them all and destroy them?
