Does anyone have pea flower knowledge? I've tried to match the pic to Lotus, Pultanea, Mirbelia, but no luck. It was along the roadside in the Dandenong Hills, Victoria, Australia. Houses nearby.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. The closest I came to matching the multisided stem was Lotus scoparius, found in California. I see now that Cytisus is a weed, commonly escaping from gardens, in Australia. Thank you again. May I ask how you even thought of the Cytisus genus? When I took the photo, I didn't know enough at the time to look at the stamen arrangement. The link you posted shows the correct flower coloring and stem shape.

    Glad to help.

    The stems are very distinctive.
The plain yellow broom is very common here. It grows wild in many places.

While the orange/ yellow one is often grown here as a pretty garden shrub.
